Menkaure and Khamerernebty, Old Kingdom, IV Dynasty, 2520 BCE. Giza, Egypt.
Menkaure is one of the Pharaohs during the Fourth Dynasty of Old Kingdom in Egypt. The sculpture shows him wearing decorative bear and his queen wearing decorative hair for attending ceremonies.
This sculpture shows the trait for Ancient Egypt style sculptures, it lacks naturalism and realism. The gold for the sculpture is not to show describe the characteristics of the objects but to show that the pharaoh and the queen is stepping into the after life peacefully with one foot stepping forward. The sculpture was used to represent the enternalty of the characters.
